Don't devalue opinions and experience by dismissing them as "broscience". Here's why: (self.bodybuilding). I too am stuck at 385, never bounced back after hurting my pec. It took me years but I finally matched my age with reps at 225 lbs. I aint reading this shit. God damn it indeed, /u/mr_traphouse just couldn't spare me 5 more minutes to feel good about myself after reading OP's post. Recently I've been wondering how a 225 bench presser stacks up compared to an average human male. When I improved my upper back is when I noticed a bigger change in my bench. You can definitely bench 225, my max is around ~235-240 last time I tested. Reading what you just wrote without knowing anything about you or how you workout my first instinct goes to you aren't eating properly. TIL either you guys don't lift or all of my friends are part of the master race. Everything is going fine except bench and overhead press. Generic shitty answer but the bench really responds to caloric surplus for a bunch of reasons. I feel like I'll constantly want to get bigger and more defined no matter how big I get. Crazy as it sounds I've been benching once a week, 2 sets. Nice! [–]2gainz2-5 years 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child), Can I post this to /r/theydidthemath? To show that the average joe is just that average and probably is not the strong and athletic when it comes to weight training because they don't do it. I think that's what OP was going for. That's exactly where I get stuck every time I'm trying to go heavy - sometimes I'm able to push through, sometimes not. What I'm really interested in, is what percentage of the general population can bench press over 225 pounds? Games and gainz baby! An 18-20yo just hasn't had time for the long slow neural adaptation. Thats just silly, everyone knows that each plate grants you the same power as 1 US dollar. Sound confusing, not really. This. Is the bent over row included in SL 5x5 sufficient? The one thing I take away from this is that being able to go to the gym and work on your body as a leisure activity is a privilege that a great deal of people don't have. Don't sit there curling 15 pounds unless it is giving you a workout.
